Barefoot or sock-foot traffic is much more gentle to a rug than a hard outdoor shoe sole (or spike heel), and leaving your outdoor shoes at the entrance to the house tracks in much less dirt.

Yes we do! We have a warehouse where we clean rugs. We offer pickup and delivery service so it makes easy for you!

Can I drop off my rug at your warehouse to be cleaned?

Our offsite service does not allow drop offs however we offer a pick up and drop off service to make it easy for you!

How long does the off site cleaning take?

Our off site cleaning takes two weeks for us to clean your rug. Before you know it you will have it back looking good as new. We will drop it off at your home clean and dry when it is ready.

Do you hand wash delicate rugs?

Yes we do. We specialize in hand washing your delicate and expensive rugs and have many years experience dealing with delicate fabrics. We hand wash silk, oriental and Persian just to name a few.

Will water cleaning shrink my wool rug?

No. Proper cleaning by a trained and certified professional will not cause shrinkage. Your wool rug will be properly tested, cleaned, and dried to prevent shrinkage.

Will steam cleaning or water cleaning damage my oriental rug?

No it will not but it is important to have a professional clean your oriental rug because it needs to be treated properly.

How often should my rug be cleaned?

Under normal wear we suggest cleaning your rug every 1-5 years depending on the colour of the rug and the amount of traffic it receives. If you have pets or unusually high traffic a cleaning every year would be ideal.

Is there different clean times for different areas in the house?

Yes, we usually say kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and entranceways you should clean rugs every 1-2 years. Living rooms, dining rooms, and family rooms you should clean rugs every 2 to 4 years. For your bedrooms clean rugs every 5 years.

What type of topical treatments do you offer?

What if the colours have bled in my Oriental rug can you fix it?

Dyes that are not colourfast can bleed if not set prior to cleaning and restoration. Unfortunately we cannot fix this particular problem. We always test rugs for colorfastness and take every precaution, however we cannot assume responsibility for unstable fugitive dyes.

Will cleaning wear out my special fine antique rug?

No, not at all! Properly done professional cleaning will not wear your rug out. Actually our rug washing process will help your rug's longevity.

How long will my rug last?

If it is properly cared for and cleaned periodically a good quality rug will last for generations.

Why if my rug a different colour in some places?

This is a common occurrence in hand made rugs and is referred to as "abrash". This is mainly caused by a change in the dye lot. When the rug is woven, the weavers will usually dye the wool when it is needed. Occasionally the colours will be slightly different and this will cause "abrash".

How do I know if my rug needs cleaning?

There are many ways to check for dirt in your rug. Lift the corner of the rug and slap the back with your hand. If dirt comes out, it needs to be cleaned. You can also dampen a white towel and rub across the surface of the rug, if the towel gets soiled, it needs cleaning. You can also pull the pile fibers apart and examine the foundation. If there is dirt in the warp and weft threads, the rug needs a good cleaning and we are the ones to help!

How often should I have my rug cleaned?

It really depends on number of people in your household, pets, lifestyle and location. However, every 1-3 years is generally satisfactory.

What happens if I spill something on my rug?

A spot or spill must receive immediate attention to prevent staining. The first step is to blot up as much of the spill as possible. Do not use household carpet cleaners. You can use club soda or diluted baby shampoo to help remove spot. If spot remains, call us and we can help remove it.

Do I really need a pad underneath my rug?

Rug padding is intended to hold your rug securely in place whether on hard or soft surfaces. This prevents the rug from shifting position or slipping which could be dangerous. Over time, shifting and slipping can cause stress and break the stitching on the rugs backing. Also, it can cause excessive wear and rug stretching. Do you carry insurance on my rug?

Absolutely, and we take photos of your rug as a value added service.

Do I need to remove furniture off my rugs prior to arrival?

We will gladly help you move most furniture pieces to safely retrieve your rug; however, some particularly heavy pieces need to be moved prior to our arrival. We also request you remove all small breakable items from the tops of all furniture that will need to be moved.

Can you store my rug after its cleaned?

Unfortunately we cannot store your rug for you because we don't have the extra room but with out pick up droop off service it makes it easy for you.

I am moving. Can you deliver my rug to a new address after cleaning?

Yes. We can deliver to your new address as long as it is in our service area.

Do you have insurance for my rugs when they are picked up and stored in your facility?

Yes. Our insurance covers your property, when it is entrusted to us for repair, service and storage.

When you deliver my rug, will you put my furniture back in its proper place?

We are happy to help you as part of the service we provide. We would appreciate you being at home to help us and instruct where you would like the furniture placed.

How much do you charge to pick up and deliver my rug?

Do you guarantee pet odor removal?

It really depends on the condition of the rug. More often than not, we are able to remove all pet odours. We do not 100% guarantee pet or stain removal.

Do you guarantee stain removal?

If a stain has not affected the fibres permanently, we have a much higher chance to remove it. Please contact us as soon as you notice the stain since taking care of it as early as possible increases our chance of success.

Is my rug even worth cleaning?

That is a personal decision depending on your emotional attachment, if any, to the rug and the replacement value of the rug. Many people design a whole room around their Oriental rug and replacing it could require refurnishing the entire room. It may be cheaper to repair and clean the rug. We will be happy to give you a professional estimate for cleaning and necessary repairs to help you make an informed decision.

The tag on my rug says dry clean only, Is your method safe?

Can you remove all the urine from my rug?

Although we can remove all the urine and pet waste from the rug by cleaning it thoroughly, the stain may still be present.

I had a potted plant sitting on my Oriental rug. When I moved it, there was a black stain. Can you remove this stain?

Possibly. It really depends on the extent of the damage. Another concern would be with the water and dampness from the leaky pot potentially causing the foundation of the rug to become brittle. Please give us a call so we can evaluate your rug.

What can I do if I have a flood or water damage on my rug?

If the rug is not dried properly and completely, the cotton foundation may become weak and rot as a result. Mold and bacteria may also thrive in such a damp environment. It is best to have the rug professionally cleaned and dried.

Do you just have one method of cleaning rugs?

Every rug we clean gets a complete evaluation to determine the condition of the rug and the type of fibre and dyes used in its construction. We customise our specialty rug cleaning process to fit each rug individually.

Do you bleach my fringe?

We do not bleach the fringe because chlorine based bleaches damage the fibre by weakening it. However, we do have specialty non-chlorine products that we can use to make fringes whiter.

My rug has been in a fire. Can you remove the soot and odour?

We have been successful in removing soot and fire odour in most cases. However, we cannot guarantee that we can do it 100% of the time.

Do you clean hooked rugs?

Yes. These are colourful yarn rugs hooked by hand with cotton or jute cloth backing.

Do you clean flokati rugs?

Yes. Flokati rugs are wonderfully thick, shaggy and fluffy traditional Greek wool rugs.

Do you clean tribal rugs?

Yes. Tribal communities or villages, sharing common patterns, structure, designs, and dyes, made tribal rugs.

Do you clean Navajo rugs?

Yes. These durable flat woven rugs and textiles are beautiful pieces of art created by the Navajo people. They usually have no fringes and the dyes are often made from vegetables or local plants.

Do you clean sisal rugs?

Yes. These are sturdy rugs, made from the rope -like fibers of the agave plant. These rugs are natural and environmentally friendly.

What is fiber protector? How will it help my rug?

The fiber protector retards soiling and helps prevent stains from becoming permanent. It is child and pet safe and is non-toxic. As an added bonus, it has a natural fresh scent.

My dog has marked his territory on my Persian rug. Can you help me or is my rug ruined?

The best method to remove the odor associated with pet urine is through a pre- treatment process and an immersion cleaning in our rug bath. Pet urine contains three components; 1) urea, which is the sticky, tacky component; 2) urochrome, which is the pigment or color element, and; 3) uric acid crystals and salts. It is these crystals and salts that cause the ammonia like odor that makes this the most difficult component to correct. These acidic crystals can also cause permanent dye damage, color loss and cause the fibers to rot. While we have been extremely successful in restoring most rugs there are some cases where the damage is permanent.

Are all rugs cleaned and treated the same?

In its simplest terms a rug can either be machine-made or man-made and made with either synthetic or natural fibers (wool, silk, cotton, bast, leaf and fruit). Then we also have construction types (tufted, woven and bonded).

I have a hand- knotted Persian rug. Some of the knots are losing their colour, is the rug falling apart?

What we have here is a case of "white knots". Your rug is fine - what you are noticing is an area where the rug's warp cords (cords that run the length of the rug) that have been spliced together while still on the loom. As the rug wears, the knots show through the pile of the rug as a small white knot.

Can bleach spots be repaired?

Sometime many of these spots can be repaired. A special colour restoration process has to be used to literally determine the colours that are missing, and replace them. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, this is a 9, and only should be attempted by a professional.

What is an Oriental rug?

An authentic oriental rug is a handmade rug that is either knotted with pile or woven without pile. In hand-knotted rugs, strands of yarn are tied into the flat-woven fabric, creating a pile and pattern. Oriental rugs that are made by machines, hand tufting or any method other than hand-knotted or hand weaving are not considered authentic oriental rugs.

A hand-made rug had the same, vibrant design as the front of the rug. The more knots per square inch and the more intricate the design, the more valuable the rug. Silk rugs are most expensive rugs on the market. In addition when examining antique rugs other factors enter in. Originality, rarity and overall condition are important factors.

How long does it take to make a rug?

Authentic rugs are hand made - for a small 3 x 5 rug; it might take several months to make. Medium-sized rugs (5 x 8) can take up to a year to hand made. Very large rugs (10 x 20) might take a group of people a few years to complete. Larger silk rugs with up to 1,000 knots or more per inch, may take a lifetime to make.

Is an oriental rug a good investment?
