Q. I have silk upholstery can you clean it?
A. Yes, Silk is a protein fiber, and therefore shares a number of similarities with the more commonly known protein fiber, wool. Silk acts like wool during a burn test; it smells like burning hair and will rarely support combustion once the test flame is removed. You will rarely need to test for silk, as most customers who have invested in silk will know what they paid for and
inform you accordingly!
Some cleaning related characteristics of silk are:
- ABSORBENCY: Silk isn't quite as absorbent as wool; nevertheless it does absorb enough moisture and liquid spills to make spotting challenging and drying time after cleaning slower than synthetic fibers.
- CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY: Like wool, silk is dissolved by chlorine bleach and harmed by high alkaline cleaning agents. If the fabric is not sensitive to water based solutions, be certain to keep the pH range between 5.5 and 8, just as you would with wool fabrics. Silk has an additional chemical sensitivity that you should be aware of. Silk is both discolored and weakened by salt. Perspiration contains enough salt to yellow the fabric permanently and eventually cause it to split. If you agitate the fabric in heavily soiled areas you may cause this weakened fabric to tear or split. And you may be held liable for the damage!
- WATER SOLUBLE SIZING: Many silk fabrics are treated with sizing to give them "body" and to aid in the manufacturing process. If these sizings are water soluble, the fabric may show water marks after cleaning that could be difficult, if not impossible to remove. Spills, especially from alcoholic beverages, may also leave permanent water marks.
If you detect the presence of water soluble sizing, it is better to dry clean the fabric.

A. It all depends on out schedule, sometime we can do same day cleaning!? Just fill out our fast and easy online form and we will get back to you with confirmation of your desired time.
Q. How many cleaners can I expect and how long does it take ?
A. Usually our cleaning teams consist of one or two technicians this may change depending on the size of the property or how many objects you need to be cleaned. Our office staff can give you an idea of how long you can expect it to take and when the supervisor has done an assessment they can then give you a better more realistic idea then what we can give you online.
Q. What steps will you take to assure a safe and effective upholstery cleaning?
A. There are many stapes we take to assure we give you the best possible clean. We will first and formats determine the state of the fabric by checking out for splits, tears, loose buttoning, loose fringing, zips, dirt levels, covering soiling, spots and stains. Then we will assess the fabric type by checking it out for construction details and testing the fabric itself doing a burn test on an individual fibber taken from the item. After that we will analyse the dye structure and finish by doing a dye test on a concealed part of the fabric. In cases of deep coloured cotton fabrics, we can also check for colour stability on a worn spot. When the fabric is tested for everything and we are familiar with the fabric we are working with out professional upholstery team cleaners will begin with an intensive vacuum to remove surface dust, soiling, hairs, foodstuff spills etc. Then a cleaning solution will be sprayed on to the ousted of the fabric and carefully agitated in order to loosen the soiling. We will only treat your upholstery with the appropriate spotting solutions and treatments. In water tolerant fabrics the soiling will likely be extracted wit hot water extraction. In water vulnerable materials, the soiling will probably be removed utilising a solvent removal process. Finally a protection treatment will be put on to help extend the fabric life and also protect against the consequences of spills. Lastly the cloth will be permitted to air dry, aided by turbo dryers and also towling to quicken drying.
Q. Why can't I vacuum my own mattress?
A. Most standard household vacuums are designed primarily for use on carpets and therefore the stiff bristles embedded in the rotating brush may cause serious damage to the mattress surface as well as other upholstered items. Traditional household or commercial vacuums do not have the extraction power to remove harmful debris such as highly resilient dust mites, bacteria, allergy triggering contaminants that are deeply embedded in the mattress. Also it is important to use a germ killing UV-C Germicidal lamp, it's the key to effective disinfection and sterilisation.
Q. How long does it take to service the mattress?
A. The time taken to clean all depends upon the size of the mattress and how dirty or stained the mattress is. A king-sized mattress takes approximately 25-45 minutes and a queen-sized mattress takes around 20-40 minutes but this is rough estimate so you can get somewhat of an idea.
Q. Will the process of sanitising a mattress or upholstered item be messy?
A. The cleaning process is completely green and environmentally friendly. There are no liquids or nasty chemicals used in the sanitation process and beds can be remade 3-6 hours after the service is completed. Since there are no chemicals or perfumes used, it is not necessary to air out the room. However it is recommended to do so to assist with the drying time of the mattress.
Q. How do I know if my mattress is in need of sanitizing?
A. We can perform a 5-minute testing procedure that will clearly show the level of contamination present.
Q. What do I have to do to prepare my mattress for cleaning and sanitizing?
A. Simply remove the linens and any mattress covers that may be present.
Q. Can mattress cleaning and sanitising cure my allergies?
A. It will help to reduce the severity and frequency of allergy attacks however it doesn't offer any cure to pre-existing allergies, . Many of our customers have found that their particular allergy disappears altogether and the need for regular medication is eliminated. In the case of asthmatics, about 85% of sufferers are allergic to House Dust Mite droppings, so the chance of us helping an asthma sufferer is very high. We have received lots of positive feedback from asthma sufferers telling us that they are enjoying a better night's sleep and have become less dependent on their breathing aids when waking up in the morning.
Q. How do I know if it is worth it to clean my mattress or if I should just purchase a new one?
Q. How old does a mattress have to be before it is worth cleaning?
A. We have found that if a new mattress were used on a regular basis it would benefit from a cleaning and sanitising after as little as 6-months of use.
Q. Can an old mattress be cleaned effectively?
A. Yes, most definitely! Our cleaning process is extremely effective and will make your old mattress clean and fresh again. Mattresses that are old will always have much higher levels of dust mites, dead skin, fungal spores, bacteria and germs so it is very important to have it cleaned for the sake of your health.
Q. Do protective mattress covers work?
A. Whenever we have tested a mattress with a protective cover, the mattress usually always tests positive for contamination. If you already have one or you are intending to buy one, then only use it on a brand new mattress or a mattress that has just been cleaned and sterilised by us! If you don't, all you are doing is incubating the contaminants that are already present.
Q. Is there such thing as dust mite season as there is with pollen or moulds? Is the summer time tougher on people with dust mite allergies because of high humidity?
A. The dust mite season is actually quite erratic. It may be higher in the summer in many climates because of the warmth and higher humidity. But people who are sensitive to dust mites often will have symptoms all year-round. And in the winter time, when people spend more time indoors and keep windows and doors closed, dust mite particles are often still in the house, and they still can be a problem.
Q. Can exposure to dust mites actually cause sensitivity or is one just born allergic to dust mites?
A. The main area of concern is in very young children in environments where with high dust mite exposure or other types of allergens. There is evidence that if an infant or a young child grows up where there's a high exposure to sensitising substances, he or she will be more likely to develop allergy problems, asthma or both.

Q. I have bought a new mattress and can smell odors, what is the reason for this and can it be clean?
A. The odor is the smell of a new mattress, which is a mixture of fabric, fillings, flame protection, wrapping and also the length of time in storage. Some people are more sensitive to this odor from a new mattress, but the odor should subside within a few weeks your new mattress will need airing not cleaning.
Q. Does your cleaning process make a mattress look as good as new by removing all stains?
A. Old stains on a mattress are almost impossible to be removed from the fabric, due to age, body heat and also the nature of the stain, what our mattress cleaning system does is hygienically sanitise and neutralise all stains. Some stains will appear to be much lighter in appearance and will always be fresh smelling after our cleaning process is completed.
Q. Mould has accumulated on my mattress what is the reason for this and can it be clean?
A. Usually if you have mould our advice is to replace your mattress. Black mould on a mattress is caused by body moisture, damp conditions and the lack of ventilation to the mattress. Once you have the problems of black mould stains on your mattress cover there will be high levels of mould and fungal spores within the fillings and can be very bad for your health.
Q. What if I have embarrassing stains on our mattresses?
A. That's not unusual, and our cleaning process works just as well with a fitted sheet over the mattress.
Q. Will my mattress be wet after cleaning? I'm susceptible to mould allergies and would not want mould or mildew to begin to grow.
A. Our cleaning process is steam cleaning and will leave your mattress a little wet for a few hours. The last step does include a very light mist of an all-natural dust mite inhibitor. The mist is so fine and light that the mattress surface is completely dry within 3-6 hours and ready for the bed to be made. Additionally, should any mould or mildew organisms remain after cleaning, the UV-C light used in the first step alters the DNA in all micro-organisms preventing them from propagating.
Q. Does Mattress Cleaning Treat Dust-Mite Allergies?
A. Dust mites are microscopic arachnids that live in mattresses, pillows, rugs and curtains and feed on people's flaked-off dead skin. They aren't harmful in themselves, but according to research some 18% to 30% of Australians are allergic to the mites' waste products. Nearly half of homes have levels of allergen significant enough to trigger a sensitivity even in people who weren't previously allergic, he adds.
Q. How do you know how to clean something that is not visible to the eye?
A. Dust mites are microscopic creatures that live and breed in your mattresses, blankets, pillows, sofas, and carpets. They thrive in warm, moist conditions and can number into the millions. Dust mites are invisible to the naked eye, but their effects can be seen everywhere.
Q. I am sick for no apparent reason is it possible that it could it be cause by dust mites?
A. If you are feeling like you may be developed asthma, eczema, hay fever or bronchitis or been waking up with itchy red eyes, sinus pain, or sneezing these are all symptoms of dust mite infestation. Dust mites feed on the dead skin cells that human beings shed everyday, and leaving behind their excrement. It is common that you will develop many allergy-like symptoms if you mattress is infested.
Q. What is the best way to protect my mattress?

Q. Does the mattress age matter?
A. Researches have proved that a mattress, which is 6 months old, can contain as many dust mites and dust as a mattress that is 5 years old.
Q. How do dust mites make me sick?
A. The droppings of these mites are the most common trigger of reoccurring allergy and asthma symptoms, especially in humid conditions where dust mites tend to thrive. Q. Will you be able to tell what kind of leather my couch is and what the best way to treat it?
A. Different animal skins are used to produce a variety of looks in leather. All leather comes from one source, the hides of animals. The most common comes from cows. All leathers are processed in similar manners to achieve the look and feel of a particular purpose. Once the leather is tanned and processed, certain sections are then selected for use on a particular application. This process determines the type of leather that will be made available to you. In almost all situations, similar tanning and dyeing chemicals and processes are used. Many different types of leather are used. The most common, Top Grain (coated) leather is used in almost all automotive and furniture upholstery. This type of leather is the most durable and easiest to maintain. As your leather ages, however, microscopic cracks develop which can become stained. Eventually, refinishing becomes necessary to achieve significant cosmetic improvement.
Q. What does your conditioning process do for my leather?
A. Our thorough, hand-applied conditioner restores beneficial oils and water to your leather to help maintain optimum moisture content. This keeps it supple, which helps reduce severe creasing which can lead to cracking.

To accelerate the process, apply dry corn starch directly to the affected area, covering the stain. Let the corn starch draw oil up out of the leather for 4-8 hours. Gently wipe away, and then repeat the process as necessary. Keep in mind that this is a home remedy with no detriment to the leather, but of limited effectiveness.

Q. My dog has marked his territory on my Persian rug. Can you help me or is my rug ruined?
A. The best method to remove the odor associated with pet urine is through a pre- treatment process and an immersion cleaning in our rug bath. Pet urine contains three components; 1) urea, which is the sticky, tacky component; 2) urochrome, which is the pigment or color element, and; 3) uric acid crystals and salts. It is these crystals and salts that cause the ammonia like odor that makes this the most difficult component to correct. These acidic crystals can also cause permanent dye damage, color loss and cause the fibers to rot. While we have been extremely successful in restoring most rugs there are some cases where the damage is permanent.
Q. Are all rugs cleaned and treated the same?
A. In its simplest terms a rug can either be machine-made or man-made and made with either synthetic or natural fibers (wool, silk, cotton, bast, leaf and fruit). Then we also have construction types (tufted, woven and bonded).
Q. I have a hand- knotted Persian rug. Some of the knots are losing their colour, is the rug falling apart?
A. What we have here is a case of "white knots". Your rug is fine - what you are noticing is an area where the rug's warp cords (cords that run the length of the rug) that have been spliced together while still on the loom. As the rug wears, the knots show through the pile of the rug as a small white knot.
Q. Can bleach spots be repaired?
A. Sometime many of these spots can be repaired. A special colour restoration process has to be used to literally determine the colours that are missing, and replace them. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, this is a 9, and only should be attempted by a professional.
Q. What is an Oriental rug?
A. An authentic oriental rug is a handmade rug that is either knotted with pile or woven without pile. Oriental rugs that are made by machines, hand tufting or any method other than hand-knotted or hand weaving are not considered authentic oriental rugs.
Q. Why are antique rugs so valuable?
A. For generations and many years of history, oriental rugs have been a luxury standard and proved many times their value increases over the years. Antique rugs are most valuable, because of the history they're carrying and time has enhanced their beautiful colors. A genuine rug can last for generations and is a great investment.
Q. Where do oriental rugs come from?
A.These rugs normally come from a broad geographical region such as China, Vietnam, Turkey, Cyprus, Iran, Pakistan, and IndiA. Oriental rugs are organized by origin: Oriental rugs are organized by origin: Persian rugs, Anatolian rugs, Kurdish rugs, Caucasian rugs, Central Asian rugs, Turkestanian rugs, Chinese rugs, Tibetan rugs, and Indian rugs.
Q. How can I tell a good rug quality?
A. There are two basic things that show rug quality: 1) Small, tight knots and a fine pattern with a clear design on the front as well as on the back of the rug. 2) The wool should feel oily, and full of lanolin. Hand-made rugs are more valuable then machine made. The back of the rug will help you determine whether it is a hand-made rug or machine made.
